Judgment

Judgment may one of the most prized skills to obtain, at least it ought to be.  Judgments in the form of decisions are the energy of almost everything.  Judgments are the life and death of ideas, decisions, and the acting upon or ignoring of those ideas and decisions.
Paul explains, "he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man" (1Cor.2:15).
It is the first part of the verse that I want to focus upon.  A spiritual person in context of the godly edification of Romans 1 up to this point "judgeth all things".  All things of life are for the use of the judging skills he/she hath obtain with all its wisdom and justice that needs to be in exsistence in order to make not only sound judgments, but discretionary judgments as well, reflective of our Father and His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Since, judgment decisions are so vast and encompass the majority of our decisions and life our Father instructs us in judgment in the form of "sayings".  "Sayings" are like proverbial onions, as you peel back each layer the depth and use of those sayings are vast and far reaching.  This form of instructing us in judgment is not only genius to give us all we need to make judgments, but also logical and practical.  Having a case book of judgments we ought to make is not only impractical, but also doesn't allow the depth and changeability we need in making judgments, as each situation and circumstance has its own uniqueness and nuances.  "Sayings" therefore give us this skill to adapt to any given situation and circumstamce we are in or will ever find ourselves in.
David exhorts his son solomon to "receives his sayings" as he will meed them to reign as king.  "Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many" (Prov. 4:10).  He later exhorts, "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.  Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.  For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh" (Prov. 4:20-22).  These verses stress the value, importance, and ability of "sayings".  They are not to be forgotten, but are to be kept in the heart.  And not just anywhere in the heart, but in the "midst" of thine heart.  They affect everything else in your heart and easily accessible for use "for they are life".
This makes the "sayings" Paul gives in Romams 13:8-14 all that more important.  A lot more is going on here than some random information.  Paul is giving "sayings" and takes some "finding" them to not only identify them, but also to peel back the layers that make them up.  Yet, when you do find them, when you do keep them in the midst of your heart, because of the value that they contain, you will "keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. (Prov. 4:23)"
More regarding the content of Paul's saying in Romams 13 next time.  Until then......
Look Up,
